Quality
Waitaki is a leading supplier of premium natural biological ingredients. Our commitment to quality and our experience processing biological materials into ingredients for nutraceuticals and personal care products has established our position as a market leader.
Product quality is part of the Waitaki culture - from the purchase of raw materials through to end user satisfaction. High quality products are achieved through attention to detail by all staff and regular auditing and verification of processes and systems.
The Waitaki manufacturing plant is one of only a handful of multi-licensed meat, marine and shellfish processing facilities in New Zealand. Our purpose built facility operates a New Zealand Food Safety Authority (NZFSA) registered Risk Management Programme (RMP) and complies with EU, USA and other market access regulations for the manufacture of human food grade ingredients.
Multiple factors contribute to Waitaki's reputation for product excellence. Natural ingredients require meticulous management, from controlling the selection of raw materials through to the final details of export shipment. The quality of Waitaki's ingredients is underpinned by attention to the following critical areas:
-
Raw Material Quality: The manufacture of premium nutritional ingredients begins with using only the highest quality raw materials, sourced from New Zealand's pristine natural environment. All raw materials are collected according to NZFSA regulations, ensuring they are export eligible and certified fit for human consumption.
-
Traceability: All ingredients follow a carefully documented chain, from collection of raw materials through to arrival at the port of off-loading. Biosecurity is a vital part of the New Zealand economy and is why we lead the way in traceability of animal and marine derived ingredients.
-
Process Controls: Waitaki is an ISO 9001:2000 accredited company and operates a HACCP based Risk Management Programme (RMP) that covers each of the manufacturing processes. The RMP is a written programme designed to manage the biological, chemical and physical hazards of production. Based on the principles of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), the RMP must be verified on an ongoing basis to ensure it continues to deliver product that is fit for intended purpose. Verification must be performed by an NZFSA recognised agency.
-
Export Certification: This is a critical part of the traceability system. All exported ingredients are accompanied by an NZFSA signed Health Certificate - an official government assurance of product origin, composition and safety.
-
Independent Laboratory Analysis: All product analysis is carried out by independent laboratories using published methods. Waitaki completes rigorous testing on all products and has a large database of technical information on product quality and consistency.
-
Environmental Awareness: Waitaki uses only renewable resources to supply the raw materials for our products.
